The LiveSimply initiative is about making a difference and we are now looking for additional help on our leadership team.  If you are looking for an opportunity to become more involved in parish life but are not able to commit to a particular group or activity this may be for you.
Could you enhance our connections with groups working with the marginalised in society and find ways in which we can offer support?
Are you passionate about environmental issues and want to share your ideas?
Can you help us to create opportunities for us to socialise together to show our commitment to creating a community which is all-inclusive and actively welcoming?
We would love to hear from so please contact Bernadette.
Live Simply prayer

Compassionate and loving God,
you created the world for us all to share,
a world of beauty and plenty.
Create in us a desire to live simply,
so that our lives may reflect your generosity.
Creator God,
you gave us responsibility for the earth,
a world of riches and delight.
Create in us a desire to live sustainably,
so that those who follow after us
may enjoy the fruits of your creation.
God of peace and justice,
you give us the capacity to change,
to bring about a world that mirrors your wisdom.
Create in us a desire to act in solidarity,
so that the pillars of injustice crumble
and those now crushed are set free.

Pope Francis tells us
‘To live simply is not a lesser life or one
lived with less intensity.
On the contrary, it is a way of
living life to the full.’

Our first pledger #pledge

I take my bags of recycling to school for the construction zone so my school doesn’t need to spend money on things for us to make and also so that the recycling isn’t just dumped at landfill.

We pledged to gather as St. Joseph's knitting group, inviting members of our community to use their knitting skills to provide items for those less fortunate than ourselves. We will be donating all we produce to various charities home and abroad.
For those who are unable to join our meetings, all knitting items will be delivered to them at home.
Our knitting group met on 18th June. A lovely afternoon was spent with all our members busily producing the different items for the various charities we are supporting. Our next meeting is on 23rd July 12.30 - 3.00.
Junior Green Team

I would like to introduce you to the members of our newly-formed ‘Junior Green Team’ who are actively supporting our LiveSimply Campaign.

Dexter Connolly 7yrs, Lily Harris 7yrs, Charlotte Sullivan 7yrs, Nancy Sullivan 9yrs, Paolo Sullivan 7yrs, Grace Long 8 yrs, Jack Long 5yrs, Tabitha Willis
6 yrs, Clark Taylor 5yrs, Luca Sullivan 10yrs and Beau Taylor 10yrs.

The team held its first meeting in Costa Coffee in Upminster on 26th June to decide how the children will help St. Joseph’s become a LiveSimply Parish.
How fortunate we are to have such enthusiastic, perceptive and imaginative young people.  In the coming months you will meet members of the team after Mass as they share their ideas with you.

I would like to thank Victoria Connelly,  our PPC secretary, for encouraging the children and arranging the meeting and to parents for supporting their children in this endeavour.
