Catholic Women's League
This is a Christian based organisation and in everything we do we pray for God's guidance and his blessings on us. This is our focus and our strength.
St. Joseph's Catholic Women's League has one of the largest memberships in the U.K. We meet on the last Tuesday of each month in the Social Centre in St. Mary's Lane, Upminster. The evening is always a friendly get-together beginning with notices, followed by a drink and a chat. Our Chairperson gives a brief talk about the various charities to which we have donated and any special occasions coming up.
C.W.L. Lunch Club
Every Wednesday in the Social Club, several members prepare a delicious lunch (£6 only). This is always well-attended, not least because of the warm welcome extended to everyone who comes.
Each week the money raised at the lunch is donated to a registered charity, which has been selected and approved by the committee. We usually donate about £100 depending on how many attend. Those benefiting include Macmillan Nurses, Havering Street Pastors, Medaille Trust, St. Francis Hospice, S.V.P. C.W.L. Housing Association, Street Child Africa, Child-line and Kids Alive among many others.
